What I’m doing now

Updated on 26 May 2024

This is a now page, inspired by Derek Sivers. I did this to make a public commitment to my goals - maybe I'll get more done this way. Maybe not. No idea. Let's find out.

Graduated from medical school

Now, I'm waiting for my postgraduate training, which will probably start 6-9 months from now. I'm (fingers crossed) planning to study again so I don't end up as a wasteman doctor when I resume my training.

I'm writing on this site

After a 2 year hiatus, I'm writing here again! I took a break 2 years ago because I felt like what I write about was pretty boring. And I was right. I wasn't living a life worth writing about.

So, I decided to stop writing on my site and to start living and listening more. Looking back at what I wrote 2 years ago, aside from the occasional article, I found myself cringing. The topics I was writing about, to say they're rubbish is an understatement.

To avoid making the same mistake, I'm:

  1. Writing summaries on academic papers
  2. Writing summaries of my favourite books & podcasts (but properly this time)
  3. Writing how-to guides, e.g., on using Anki, Obsidian, how to set up your Mac for productivity, etc.
  4. Maybe the occasional piece about my thoughts if I ever had a good one.

I think the best way to improve a skill is to join a project. So I joined the Shiny Dime Challenge. I'm also a Write of Passage Alum.

Why do I write? I'm passionate about scaling my impact as a doctor. "Assuming a 40-year or so medical career, the typical doctor saves a couple of lives each year."

As writing online is something that can scale, I'm hoping it can increase my impact. But instead of writing when I already have something good to say, I'm starting now.

Ghostwriting

I ghostwrite educational email courses for productivity content creators.

Some of my clients include Ness Labs and Jomo.

If you're interested in a collaboration, send me a dm on twitter.

Working on my health

I decided to take my health a bit more seriously after letting myself go for the past 5 years of medical school, so I'm committing to:

  1. Intermittent fasting most days of the week.
  2. Going to the gym 3x/week
  3. Playing tennis/any social sports 2-3x/week

I'll document this journey on my site and remind myself to be patient, expecting results only after maintaining consistency for at least a year.

Exploring my curiosities

Some topics living in my head rent-free at the moment:

  1. The art of; writing, reading, and learning
  2. Artificial Intelligence
  3. Joyful productivity
  4. Digital minimalism
